<br />
<br />
I have always been a card maker, but in periods creating layouts has been higher on my priority list. But in 2012 I found back to the love of making cards, and I hope this will continue over the next year.<br />
<br />
During 2012 I have tried out the Clean And Simple style, but on occations I get this urge to do more traditional cards. I like both, which you will see among my personal favs. I give them to you in Chronological order with a few designer's note below each image.<br />

<span style="font-size: large;"><strong>A Happy New Year!</strong></span></div>
Hilde Aaslund aka Scoobiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06937498198251713682noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390942351173525254.post-54881059280628631722012-12-30T16:05:00.000+01:002012-12-30T17:01:03.936+01:00Top Ten Layouts 2012Duh, it's that time of year again.<br />
I admit it - it's dead hard to pick ten favourites - each and every layout means something for me!<br />
But I have made my choice, and will give you my personal favourites. OK, I give you twelve - I couldn't narrow further down *lol*<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
---------------</div>
<br />
But first - some news regarding this blog: from January 1th 2013 it will not be updated anymore. But fear not - I'll have a brand new one: <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<strong>From January 1th 2013 my blog will be <u><a href="http://www.hildeaaslund.blogspot.no/">Hilde - The Paper Addict.</a></u></strong></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
(<a href="http://www.hildeaaslund.blogspot.no/">http://www.hildeaaslund.blogspot.no/</a>) </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I'm still working on the details, but the blog is open for you to have a sneek peek and to sign in as a follower. From mid January I will close the old Scoobie-blog for new comments, but the blog will still be there.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
--------------</div>
<br />
OK, back to business. Here are my <strike>ten</strike> twelve personal favourites. They all have one thing in common, I really enjoy the design, so there are more to them for me, which I'll explain under each image. And I don't list manufactorers this round. The layouts are presented chronological:<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxfq4EZiF1rA1EWCWP60wbq_b3bpb6mLIUj4vmJwwg90J-oUDh4j_HoNlArYMMebifuWM5k128cAarDGUh3hHBTTzaLja9A29F0L2gaA0VqrX8UxlxnRV05VgENUK6IqmkOjMJs7rhyphenhyphenj0i/s1600/01+Ghost+poop_JAN_BG.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxfq4EZiF1rA1EWCWP60wbq_b3bpb6mLIUj4vmJwwg90J-oUDh4j_HoNlArYMMebifuWM5k128cAarDGUh3hHBTTzaLja9A29F0L2gaA0VqrX8UxlxnRV05VgENUK6IqmkOjMJs7rhyphenhyphenj0i/s400/01+Ghost+poop_JAN_BG.jpg" width="398" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">You really don't need much to create a layout: a dog, some snow, a black cardstock, two pieces of scrap papers and two embellies. I love the orange on black! A just for fun layout, inspired by "use two papers only" at the Basic Grey blog.</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The inspiration to the title work came from an image of a cuuuuute kitten with the same caption. Love how it turned out with this photo of my brother making a silly face. This is also how I want to remember my brother who died in June - a fun dude. A just for fun layout, published in ScrapStreetMagazine</td></tr>

<br />
I know it has been quiet on this blog in December, and I haven't been very active in cyber world either.<br />
Do you want to know why? It's very simple - I have taken off anything scrappy to enjoy the season and to spend time with my family doing what we wanted to do when we were off. And it has been great, but I admit I'm itching to scrap and make cards again.<br />
<br />
I also admit I have done some scrapping stuff behinds the scenes, like solving the CSI December challenges, and working on a new personal blog. Yepp, I'm moving! My blog needs a makeover, and as the oldest posts are from 2008, so I thought I might as well create a completely new one.<br />
<br />
<strong>So from January 1th 2013 you will find me at </strong><a href="http://www.hildeaaslund.blogspot.no/"><strong>Hilde - The Paper Addict</strong></a><strong>.</strong> I'm still working on the details, but the blog is open for you to have a sneek peek and to sign in as a follower. From mid January I will close the old Scoobie-blog for new comments, but the blog will still be there.<br />
<br />
<br />
As you may have noticed I have been guest designing at <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/">CSI</a> the entire month of December. I love the challenges and the color combos which forces me to try out new combinations, and I know I will continue to solve the cases in 2013.<br />
<br />
<br />
Here is <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-52">this week's case</a> to be solved:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBEAxvn9hyphenhyphen867mPOzS67Aogdx0EhJdjOZAxtYk9b1YGTsa4GV40RQrBeZCAqybX9RE5R5c62W3FsRPteAg9qmh3G56PSDQ1O8vOT1P1SIWyJfjCUX1xGuAnpP7hLS14a2T-2NBkno3wHnb/s1600/52+flat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="465" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBEAxvn9hyphenhyphen867mPOzS67Aogdx0EhJdjOZAxtYk9b1YGTsa4GV40RQrBeZCAqybX9RE5R5c62W3FsRPteAg9qmh3G56PSDQ1O8vOT1P1SIWyJfjCUX1xGuAnpP7hLS14a2T-2NBkno3wHnb/s640/52+flat.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I just love the classy color combo!<br />
<br />
<br />
And this is how I solved it:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1o8-nJ_5RvMubBT422olIlfRL9Eb5CoJcYx1hL2rKcxMSLFzfdBh5s5IchwAjrr9KGJipHFdBvdoeIIYxcmhPlF0qxpsBXyTVhyphenhyphenf80Bi7xicgd85W9Zdh7CCHPZ-PPjKMIrAuyP16JLH7/s1600/Mat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1o8-nJ_5RvMubBT422olIlfRL9Eb5CoJcYx1hL2rKcxMSLFzfdBh5s5IchwAjrr9KGJipHFdBvdoeIIYxcmhPlF0qxpsBXyTVhyphenhyphenf80Bi7xicgd85W9Zdh7CCHPZ-PPjKMIrAuyP16JLH7/s640/Mat.jpg" width="638" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Another layout where the materials are a true mix of different manufactorers. I THINK the background paper is MME, but isn't sure as the label was cut of, the alpha is from SEI, the overlay from Hambley, but the rest I have no idea about.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl1gQ4xz6-270np2VGd4_Evm08Jqz_BZ6T67HnpgMHtq9xekOgqRn6PC8_f7-nddlkrxxwGV82omowZszcN8V6DA3JLPtbePGDo0xcQXiLAG9uRqKIDa9nZeo8eWWhogdb8HRWm5utwgno/s1600/Mat+det1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl1gQ4xz6-270np2VGd4_Evm08Jqz_BZ6T67HnpgMHtq9xekOgqRn6PC8_f7-nddlkrxxwGV82omowZszcN8V6DA3JLPtbePGDo0xcQXiLAG9uRqKIDa9nZeo8eWWhogdb8HRWm5utwgno/s400/Mat+det1.jpg" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
How I solved the case:<br />
<ul>
<li>Colors - all five used</li>
<li>Evidence: wood/woodgrain (Washer and baground paper), twine, kraft paper, burlap, eyelets, washer</li>
<li>Testimony: handwrited journaling, documenting a gift (figurative - we give something to the wild birds to during the season, not only the humans and domestic pets)</li>
</ul>
<br />
Don't you want to give this challenge a try? <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-52">Here is where to find it!</a>Hilde Aaslund aka Scoobiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06937498198251713682noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390942351173525254.post-84296347427952160032012-12-23T19:25:00.000+01:002012-12-23T19:25:22.525+01:00Scoobie - 8I can't believe my puppy is eight years old - I still remember so well when we drove and picked her up.<br />

Bummer, I thought I had made plenty.<br />
<br />
So a girl got to do what a girl got to do: whip up some last minute Christmas cards.<br />
In early december I needed to stock up some papers with pink in, as I had ran completely out, and I bough a super cute collection from Panduro/Tilda, called<a href="http://www.pandurohobby.no/Catalogue/30-Papir-Stempler/3030-Papir/303012-Stacks/2/480490-Designblokk-Christmas-Play"> Christmas Play.</a> My original intention was to use it for non seasonal stuff, but as it had some lovely themed cut outs, I thought I could use it for seasonal cards as well.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWjurvuYQDlDUpKKGb7iWjgVijquzN6rKZICfwd8tTOeq4G8DEHZzszM1BxpEv1-MNZOz2Zd71QWjfg3ukRQEtOGlrfC7nzeCquodd_OpS6KpVr0HPQ9v6kUrxAAx94x2NjU3yFUg8gbLH/s1600/Panduro1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWjurvuYQDlDUpKKGb7iWjgVijquzN6rKZICfwd8tTOeq4G8DEHZzszM1BxpEv1-MNZOz2Zd71QWjfg3ukRQEtOGlrfC7nzeCquodd_OpS6KpVr0HPQ9v6kUrxAAx94x2NjU3yFUg8gbLH/s400/Panduro1.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
These cards are far out from my traditional style, but I enjoyed making them, and they were rater quick to make.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOowKTcuEjdoeBmh0WeadF6VjTrfWYe4TYTQdktQtMkj5cxqPWoHj6lpY8dGx4a2kT2uXSS0hb8kovTdkrzghJ7BsPmj-xRS3oScdh9gZYNMF5u39RKDZPpjYHSG8pDZ-r7Vdr_tmedN21/s1600/Panduro2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOowKTcuEjdoeBmh0WeadF6VjTrfWYe4TYTQdktQtMkj5cxqPWoHj6lpY8dGx4a2kT2uXSS0hb8kovTdkrzghJ7BsPmj-xRS3oScdh9gZYNMF5u39RKDZPpjYHSG8pDZ-r7Vdr_tmedN21/s400/Panduro2.jpg" width="271" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So where do the Stickles come in?<br />
When I had put these cards together, I thought they missed the little extra. So I pulled out the good old Stickles and some Glossy and added on my cards to make them a little more festive and to add smore dimension. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtB_XGPc_U6e8vJEGPeeSTR9sSfS44e_y3A4JkV2H8QRSKiHh2jx8vrYnS1CqzLeRXF8OqAWeQuFY737fGQnBbHHjr4kLXBXIF8arTzqEhu0oJQTF-D0TJ3X78S-aO1RA2hcrvKOJGG3ex/s1600/Panduro3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjtB_XGPc_U6e8vJEGPeeSTR9sSfS44e_y3A4JkV2H8QRSKiHh2jx8vrYnS1CqzLeRXF8OqAWeQuFY737fGQnBbHHjr4kLXBXIF8arTzqEhu0oJQTF-D0TJ3X78S-aO1RA2hcrvKOJGG3ex/s400/Panduro3.jpg" width="272" /></a></div>
<br />
Volia! Not so dull cards anymore.<br />
It might be difficult to see the stickles and the glossy on these lousy images, but believe me, it's there :-)<br />
<br />

<br />
From Wikipedia: <em>"For the traditional observance of the day, school children form processions through the hallways of the school building carrying candles, and hand out </em><a class="mw-redirect" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lussekatt" title="Lussekatt"><em>lussekatt</em></a><em> buns. While rarely observed at home, parents often take time off work to watch these school processions in the morning, and if their child should be chosen Lucia it is considered a great honor. Later on in the day, the procession usually visits local retirement homes, hospitals, and nursing homes"</em> <br />
You can read more about this tradition <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Lucy%27s_Day">here</a>.<br />

<br />
Do you wonder why I have a photo of walnuts on this page? Here's the explanation:<br />
In Norway we have a tradition of eating nuts as snacks during Christmas.<br />
<br />
Some years ago I planted a walnut tree in our garden, hoping it one day will carry nuts. Walnut trees are not very common here so I have never been sure if this could be a success. Last year we had two nuts (!), this year several kilos :-) I'm so happy to see it worked out!<br />

I love the lights we put up everywhere to decorate, and I love the traditional dishes we eat.<br />
<br />
One of my absolute favourites is the Norewgian traditional dish Pinnekjøtt.<br />
<br />
Here is how Wikipedia describes it:<br />
<span style="color: black;"><em><strong>Pinnekjøtt</strong> is a main course dinner dish of </em></span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamb_and_mutton" title="Lamb and mutton"><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><em>lamb or mutton</em></span></a><span style="color: black;"><em>. Pinnekjøtt is a festive dish typical to Western- and Northern Norway, served with </em></span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pur%C3%A9e" title="Purée"><span style="color: #6fa8dc;"><em>puréed</em></span></a><span style="color: black;"><em> turnip and potatoes, beer and </em></span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akvavit" title="Akvavit"><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><em>akevitt</em></span></a><span style="color: black;"><em>.... ...The preparation of pinnekjøtt uses a traditional method for food preservation utilizing </em></span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curing_(food_preservation)" title="Curing (food preservation)"><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><em>curing</em></span></a><span style="color: black;"><em>, </em></span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drying_(food)" title="Drying (food)"><span style="color: #3d85c6;"><em>drying</em></span></a><span style="color: black;"><em><span style="color: #3d85c6;"> </span>and in some regions also </em></span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoking_(cooking)" title="Smoking (cooking)"><span style="background-color: white; color: #3d85c6;"><em>smoking</em></span></a><span style="color: black;"><em><span style="background-color: white; color: #3d85c6;"> </span>as means of inhibiting the growth of micro-organisms. Although lamb is today available fresh or frozen all year round, pinnekjøtt is still prepared both commercially and in private homes due to the flavour and maturing the preservation process gives to the meat.</em></span><br />
<em>Before cooking, the racks are separated into individual ribs by cutting a sharp knife between the bones. The ribs must then be soaked in water in order to rinse out the salt and reconstitute the meat. Today pinnekjøtt is available in most supermarkets before Christmas, smoked or unsmoked, ready cut and sometimes also soaked, ready for cooking</em><br />

<br />
So I was beyond thrilled when <a href="http://www.debbitscraps.blogspot.no/">Debbi Therani</a> asked me to guest design for December *lol*<br />
<br />
<br />
Today is the day when my first GD layout is up, and here is how I solved case File #49:<br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>Title: The Count down</strong><br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Journaling: The Advent calendars ar important to the kids - you need to know how many days there are lft to Christmas Eve, right? And one $2 chocolate calendar from the grocery shop isn't enough - oh, no: there need to be one small gift each day.</td></tr>

Some close up photos:<br />

<br />
Here is the case to be solved:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJQ-xYwfI_9XaK5oyKLg-1XiaiZA-phyphenhyphenU6ISi0_1mKJ0GzWRMnlwuZpNd3Nmz8RzxmGefh8K0Dh7be43HuajrHdA1T2Pfl5RgwHhuJqvfXmnw3-NfW5RBt-o4YR3tvB86iVYaqbnoL_AJU/s1600/49flat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" nea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJQ-xYwfI_9XaK5oyKLg-1XiaiZA-phyphenhyphenU6ISi0_1mKJ0GzWRMnlwuZpNd3Nmz8RzxmGefh8K0Dh7be43HuajrHdA1T2Pfl5RgwHhuJqvfXmnw3-NfW5RBt-o4YR3tvB86iVYaqbnoL_AJU/s400/49flat.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /> </div>
How I solved it?<br />
<ul>
<li>Colors: as shown</li>
<li>Evidence: numbers, rhinestones, buttons, twine, semi crircle nothes, Chritmas/winter accents</li>
<li>Testimony: documenting a holiday tradition</li>
</ul>
<br />
What do you say - isn't this case file inspiring?<br />
Why don't you jump right in and give it a try?<br />
And remember, there are printables ("Coordinates"), up for grabs, too, in case you want some new stuff!<br />

Beware that we have house rules!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8fhbN5RsGtUL4e4Zp3523tFysVYamepK_FyOIrVqaPFJ2KCE_QWLBv9ErgxtTurNKbZY2H63d0wKk8fbgZcRd9uZ4y-SDNwTqlbBluJ0ZvfVI3r2xbRxcF_ulY9hK_T-eRGm1bjZn2_Ti/s1600/Husregler+det+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" nea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8fhbN5RsGtUL4e4Zp3523tFysVYamepK_FyOIrVqaPFJ2KCE_QWLBv9ErgxtTurNKbZY2H63d0wKk8fbgZcRd9uZ4y-SDNwTqlbBluJ0ZvfVI3r2xbRxcF_ulY9hK_T-eRGm1bjZn2_Ti/s400/Husregler+det+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Did that scare you? <br />
Don't be scared, they are very easy, just like the journaling on this layout says:<br />
<br />
<br />
<em>We really don't have many house rules guests need to have in mind - maybe three?</em><br />
<em></em><br />
<em>*this isn't a hotel so you need to tidy up yourself</em><br />
<em>*our butler's name is Do-It-Yourself</em><br />
<em>*guests are like fish - after three days they smell</em><br />
<em><br /></em><em>And as our kids some times behave like they are guest in this house, the rules go for them, too."</em><br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
Do you have house rules?<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------------</div>
<br />
I admit it: I some times run out of ideas/topics to scrap about, but the <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/">CSI Challenges ("Case Files")</a> always push me in the right direction. My brain start work as soon as the challenges go live, and for the past three months I have scrapped stories I never had thought of. It's easy to think we just want to remember the vacations and happy days when we browse the albums in thirty years, but these "out of the box" themed layouts will surely bring back memories of what our real life was like, the everyday life.<br />
<br />
<br />
This goes for <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-47-case-closes-on-december-2-2012">CSI case file #47</a>, too:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6_yeqEt2sg4YCT_v5ZqzBR-YXi6XXdRBuvWJc-L9rrxF9OdqGmzvo4kbKpqPGA65GIyfF1wR9h4Ugb1JEYZrOibjMPCHqTafNx9zIu13x9Iz50mK1luilxvAW2qim1QnGkLdZgJUqHnz7/s1600/47flat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="465" nea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6_yeqEt2sg4YCT_v5ZqzBR-YXi6XXdRBuvWJc-L9rrxF9OdqGmzvo4kbKpqPGA65GIyfF1wR9h4Ugb1JEYZrOibjMPCHqTafNx9zIu13x9Iz50mK1luilxvAW2qim1QnGkLdZgJUqHnz7/s640/47flat.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
The <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-47-case-closes-on-december-2-2012">CSI printables ("coordinates")</a> was fabolous this round, so I didn't even bother to dig into my pile of papers - I just grabbed the printable papers and used them - how easy is that?<br />
<br />
This is how I solved this case:<br />
<ul>
<li>Colors: OK</li>
<li>Evidence: Patchwork pattern, mesh (golden, behind photo and house), flourishes (rubons)</li>
<li>Testimony: Etiquette guide (the house rules)</li>
</ul>
<br />
I also admit I'm happy and proud to find this layout on the <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/under-surveillance-case-file-no-47">CSI Watch List</a> this week:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Do you fancy a brand new layout sketch from <a href="http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.no/">Once Upon A Sketch?</a><br />
<br />
Here it is, the December Sketch:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcca7SuOyOW2crqsGRoUQJlqxXIgEx9LslrxmxBqC-0u34gJQdyr5j2eTYTk2ZOvqYOwb_O6rw48KijqIeefEwo8rJa0Es6lfD2iqchDoN4hFe9PpSqZr_AFcR57H_N7f4P7a9RNaL119L/s1600/OUAS+December+2012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcca7SuOyOW2crqsGRoUQJlqxXIgEx9LslrxmxBqC-0u34gJQdyr5j2eTYTk2ZOvqYOwb_O6rw48KijqIeefEwo8rJa0Es6lfD2iqchDoN4hFe9PpSqZr_AFcR57H_N7f4P7a9RNaL119L/s400/OUAS+December+2012.JPG" tea="true" width="368" /></a></div>
<br />
And the theme this month:<br />
<em>We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "'It's December.. " however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.</em><br />
<br />
<br />
Please head over to the <a href="http://onceuponasketchblog.blogspot.no/">OUAS blog</a> to see the jaw dropping creations from DT team A and our GD <a href="http://eachmoment-onlyonce.blogspot.com.au/">Tara Orr</a>, have a look at the fabolous prizes this month, and learn how you can win a GD spot.
As I am on the DT Team B, my example for this challenge will not be released until December 15th, but here you have a little sneek peek:

<br />
<a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/">CSI</a> Coordinates are printables which comes with every <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/">CSI </a>challenge. There are both background papers, word art and (journaling) spots/tags etc. So convenient if you don't have what you need among your own stash!<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Background paper, tag, frames: CSI. Ribbon/twin: <a href="http://www.scrapbookfantasies.com.au/products/index.php">Scrapbook Fantasies.</a>
<br />
Cardstock: Bazill. Buttons: Unknown<br />
<br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I don't always use the Coordinates, as I do have planty of stash on my desk, but some times I do. Usually I don't use all of it, and it's a shame to just toss the remaining pp and embellies. So I got this idea - why not use them for cards? I bet somebody has done it before me, but I haven't actually seen it, so nobody can blaim me on beeing a copy cat *lol*<br />
<br />

I have some remaning patterned papers from <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-47-case-closes-on-december-2-2012">CSI Coordinates #47</a> on my desk, and the matching spots are just lovely, so I think I will do it this week too.<br />
<br />
Do you ever use printables for cards?<br />

I have a long list...<br />
<br />
Some of them should be quite easy to tick off my list, because they are not very time consuming or expensive - it's more a kind of getting my butt in gear. Like taking a class in flower decoration, which I started on last week. I had had in my mind for years, but finally took the plunge when one of the local florists had an ad for it. I really enjoy it, and some details of my first decoration is shown on the layout below.<br />
<br />
Then there are other things that have to wait. Like seeing kenguroos in Australia. It's not like something I can to in an afternoon, and I will certainly need some more money than I use on a class at the florists. But if I start saving...<br />
<br />
<em>Title: 18 things to do before I die</em><br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
The got the idea for this layout when I saw <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/">CSI </a>File Case # 46<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaakPip-MA7JDhiYokYK-Wgcd28uUv05HpNEUJrsIJkR6kP7rGFc8jBVyI_LJZbQYwr76WsFoeeDROsgbndaJSzmvMYZc9T8wlZYYtJN2hOFY4YQIwgmy6t_7vWgFq8N2msfvMfp1P6X9M/s1600/46flat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaakPip-MA7JDhiYokYK-Wgcd28uUv05HpNEUJrsIJkR6kP7rGFc8jBVyI_LJZbQYwr76WsFoeeDROsgbndaJSzmvMYZc9T8wlZYYtJN2hOFY4YQIwgmy6t_7vWgFq8N2msfvMfp1P6X9M/s400/46flat.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Evidence: frames, translucent element (some of the tiles), something that shimmers (glitter pins).<br />
Testimony: 18 things - a list of 18 things I want to do before I die.<br />
<br />
<br />
One thing I really like about the CSI challenges, is that they have a set of printables (or coordinates as CSI call them) along with each challenge. It's both backgrounds, tags/spots, word art and other embellies you can print out. For my layout I printed out one of the backgrounds on matte photo papers as well as a sheet of tags/spots. I used one of them only, but spent the remaining parts for three super cute cards I'll show you later this week. If you're curious about these printables, <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-46-case-closes-on-november-25-2012">here is the link to Challenge #46</a> - scroll to the very bottom and on the left hand you find the printable files.<br />
<br />
<br />
So what's on your list - what do you want to do before you die?<br />

In my family it's the kitchen: everything seem to happen there: School work, eating, cooking, it's the game zone, computer room, the pets' sleeping area, where we party, read etc etc. <br />
<br />
It' nice to have a place where both family and friends gather, but it gets incredibly messy because of it, too. Like when the kids bring friends and they leave their jackets on the chairs instead of in the wardrobe. Like when DS10 has messed up his own room so badly, that he need the kitchen table for creating one of his giant paper projects. Or like when DS13 and his gang uses the said table as a gaming spot, and just leave it all there when they decide it's time to do something else.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I found inspiration for this layout in this week's CSI challenge:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga5CaAH8B1FVOF8oD_DuxIhxHe-_DDCnaz0UO3h5M9CF5f2e5XgGbBHX6hpN98yrFlVOTiWDl5aU7xgCKSGUwhBt9lNXwkQ4I-d2ln5YCdTQ3UkvD8rM3FEJvDClRcaVcKs0IO6qFnIrQU/s1600/45flat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="465" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga5CaAH8B1FVOF8oD_DuxIhxHe-_DDCnaz0UO3h5M9CF5f2e5XgGbBHX6hpN98yrFlVOTiWDl5aU7xgCKSGUwhBt9lNXwkQ4I-d2ln5YCdTQ3UkvD8rM3FEJvDClRcaVcKs0IO6qFnIrQU/s640/45flat.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My evidence is the woodgrain background paper and the buttons, my testimony is documenting a favorite room.<br />

What's your family's favorite room?Hilde Aaslund aka Scoobiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06937498198251713682noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2390942351173525254.post-66546109265334939812012-11-16T07:57:00.000+01:002012-11-16T07:59:16.733+01:00Not Your Bag! - OUAS November Challenge RevealHave you ever been to an air port, waiting for your luggage, and suddenly you realize you are all alone at the luggage pick up? There is one suit case left, going round and round on the luggage belt, but it's not yours. It is the same brand and color as yours, but is still not yours.<br />
<br />
This happened to me this summer, in Corfu Greece. Luckily it is a small airport, and the airport staff was very understanding, so I left husband and kids with the strange suitcase at the belt, and ran out to see if I could find anyone with a suitcase belonging to me. And luckily I did, after just a minute or two, lined up in the taxi line.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjzrpTWIVp795aiBTeEAHhVA5oGs3Bw2paQ9Csc_GosygxP2YSNPspSE9hO0y3b9msHSjsSlo4ztkrsgVCqf7AEuGWWw74Pq9DfYKmbKOsnmxSqX03587wM6xfXarCSG9h5HpB3f2F0fi/s1600/Not+your+bag_det.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="210" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzjzrpTWIVp795aiBTeEAHhVA5oGs3Bw2paQ9Csc_GosygxP2YSNPspSE9hO0y3b9msHSjsSlo4ztkrsgVCqf7AEuGWWw74Pq9DfYKmbKOsnmxSqX03587wM6xfXarCSG9h5HpB3f2F0fi/s320/Not+your+bag_det.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
At first the girl with my suitcase claimed the suitcased she held was hers, but when I asked if her name was what the tag said, she realized she had done a huge mistake. She probably understood how big her mistake was, when I told her I had spent enough time on the airport because of her, and that I had no intention on spending a minute more helping her out getting hers. Oh my, sometimes I can be so rude, but honestly - at least she could had apologized, but all she was interested in was why I hadn't brought her suitcase out. Hello, I'm not stupid - what if she had drugs in it, and I had been stopped at the customs? No, there was a reason why I didn't bring her bag.<br />
<br />
Anyway - when we came home I saw this bright pink tag in a shop, and I bought it immidiately. <br />

Did you notice the chicken wire on the card? It's a stamp I have made by using the <a href="http://photocentric-imagepac.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/teresa-collins-stampmaker-instructions.html">Photocentric Teresa Collins Stamp Maker</a>. You see, fellow Cardabilities DT member Petra Ofrell is also in the DT at <a href="http://photocentric-imagepac.blogspot.co.uk/">Photocentric</a>, who has teamed up with Teresa Collins to develop the Stamp Maker. I had the chance to try it out at Petra's house a while back, and I'm telling you - this stamp maker is on my wish list! I admit it - some times I get tired of having other's kids around all the time (at least it feels like all the time), especially when school is out. During those periods I never know how many there are for dinner, or who is staying over.<br />
<br />
But on the other hand - it feels good that the kids like it at our house. They do have house rules to stick to, and they can't stay for weeks: it's like my wise, old father says: fish and guests stinks after three days *lol*<br />And as oldest son just turned into a teenager, having them around here give me a feeling of having a little more control.<br />

Here is how the challenge blog CSI describes this mont's theme: <em>In November, our thoughts turn to the holidays and getting together with family and cozying up in our homes, so our theme that will tie our Case Files together this month is "Coming Home."</em><br />
<br />
Here is how I solved the <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-44-case-closes-on-november-11-2012">Case file #44:</a><br />
Colors - all five used:<br />
Evidence: Flowers (on patterned papers), transparent element (bracket overlay), something woven (cheese cloth)<br />
Testimony: Document what you love about your home (the hospitality)<br />
<br />
<br />
CSI <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-44-case-closes-on-november-11-2012">Case file #44</a> closes today, but <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-45-case-closes-on-november-18-2012">Case file #45</a> is open for investigation another week, so please head over to get some ideas on how to scrap your family and home.<br />

I just wanted to see if I could make a big paper bow. I have a crush on bows these days, but I don't always have the ribbons I need. But I do have papers!<br />
<br />
<br />
So I made this bow using a patterned paper from Little Yellow Bicycle (<em>Saturdays collection</em>) and used scraps from the same collection for the background. The trick to make it look right, was to prefold some of the wrinkles, and to snip of some ends (I learned this from looking at DS10 when he makes his 3D paper model planes *lol).<br />

<br />
"God jul" means Merry Christmas in Norwegian, so this is a card for the upcoming season. But I know I want to do more bow cards later - I have plenty of scraps (and new sheets) to use.<br />

I pulled out stamps, inks and some good old fashioned chalk and was ready to play.<br />
Just to discover I had Not. A. Single. Sheet of kraft left. Not a single sheet!!! Crises!!!<br />
<br />
<br />
I found a piece of scrap kraft, though, but none of my ideas could be realized. Bummer.<br />
So I put on my thinking cap again (I'm not a quitter, you know) and got a few more ideas. I choce to spend all my remaining craft on one single card, and here it is:<br />
<br />

Do you ever see something on the world wide web that inspire you so much that you want to sit down and create immidiately?<br />
<br />
Usually, while browsing challenge sites etc, my brain is put in work modus, and ideas grow for a day or two, but with this sketch from <a href="http://casethissketch.blogspot.no/">CAS(E) This Sketch</a>, ideas came popping up at once.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyUNZIR5ASrqerYW6875ayFxZJ26ObS82cS0WfH0muCVn4n7TnbhncZTeUcspTWIFEhl-dsxwfGgCfpFSZcwD0otdJk1sx4MCdbC6nIPzakYBuJOPSGQ5QgOabN2sJ-IeqMa_31Q4XSMNR/s1600/cts3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyUNZIR5ASrqerYW6875ayFxZJ26ObS82cS0WfH0muCVn4n7TnbhncZTeUcspTWIFEhl-dsxwfGgCfpFSZcwD0otdJk1sx4MCdbC6nIPzakYBuJOPSGQ5QgOabN2sJ-IeqMa_31Q4XSMNR/s400/cts3.jpg" width="282" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I have saved this sketch to use it on later occations, but what first came to my mind was making a super simple Christmas card.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_UKeOtQMcOk7frhFiiMZi3Q8XtOhLbQjtm723qLpSd1HnNX_4fe2jMSKXUIAzsYvXwZDHe5S4o_kbTuOfoDQekHVuBVfK6HrH4-CovO8UFSiIDuQhap9CcOx7bK0601jfnnEygUZ6sy5x/s1600/Sn%C3%B8fnugg2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_UKeOtQMcOk7frhFiiMZi3Q8XtOhLbQjtm723qLpSd1HnNX_4fe2jMSKXUIAzsYvXwZDHe5S4o_kbTuOfoDQekHVuBVfK6HrH4-CovO8UFSiIDuQhap9CcOx7bK0601jfnnEygUZ6sy5x/s640/Sn%C3%B8fnugg2.jpg" width="395" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Patterned paper: Kaiser Kraft. Card stock: Bazill.<br />
Felt Snowflake & Merry Christmas sticker: unknown</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
This may be not very traditional Christmas Card colors, but I liked it.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------------------</div>
<br />
<br />
Then, yesterday, <a href="http://thedynamicduoschallenge.blogspot.ca/">Dynamic Duos</a> came up with this cool color combo:<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvUg6icXD4ul65nfsVdtb1YO9t3-xsp2zDNyPtMkxfy8kv6OOXhmdS-_elRtXWEV8p2DAwJb3ip5pfamLS7YMVlFWh2kgYaRPRO4OhsZuV6TIJYrgrV51WKJ6uxQ8Q6Qeu1ysBvfxRbjzf/s1600/DD_26.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvUg6icXD4ul65nfsVdtb1YO9t3-xsp2zDNyPtMkxfy8kv6OOXhmdS-_elRtXWEV8p2DAwJb3ip5pfamLS7YMVlFWh2kgYaRPRO4OhsZuV6TIJYrgrV51WKJ6uxQ8Q6Qeu1ysBvfxRbjzf/s320/DD_26.bmp" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Working with monochromatics (same colours in different hues -light/dark) usually set me off, but I thought I would give it a try. I used a vanilla base and bow (neutrals are allowed according to the rules at Dynamic Duos), and here is what I came up with:<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV9gHrErKbW581obLAwHjWhQT3z8EUSl4yaJh4C5DSBOtEG4H4xS1pIpjtFbubGNP0nEmG_T6dgkedH9tP2nkf7UbUEsb3NOXlK4d84jTBOy0bJZGtluMiZT3WOvYf3iJMH5JxidQJ2zce/s1600/Reindeer1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjV9gHrErKbW581obLAwHjWhQT3z8EUSl4yaJh4C5DSBOtEG4H4xS1pIpjtFbubGNP0nEmG_T6dgkedH9tP2nkf7UbUEsb3NOXlK4d84jTBOy0bJZGtluMiZT3WOvYf3iJMH5JxidQJ2zce/s640/Reindeer1.jpg" width="414" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Patterned paper: MME. Cardstock: ClubScrap. Ribbon & sticker: unknown. <br />
Deer dies: Lifestyle Crafts</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Another simple Christmas card! <br />

As many of you already know, my brother chose to take his own life in June. The family has been open about the cause of his death all the way, hence the title on this layout. <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfzpOjRTVSnF39dlh-SaC29cS3cLF0LK2FECxp-O2f0jv10or6v6z3Rqhy3e29aoh4tZboz3DL5J_2LkYdIj5P-iVtzo4COWy-bsBaAr1oqwPOr7jxlwqu-d8fHfAioKWfebdbWjUPygjr/s1600/Familiehemmelighet2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="634" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfzpOjRTVSnF39dlh-SaC29cS3cLF0LK2FECxp-O2f0jv10or6v6z3Rqhy3e29aoh4tZboz3DL5J_2LkYdIj5P-iVtzo4COWy-bsBaAr1oqwPOr7jxlwqu-d8fHfAioKWfebdbWjUPygjr/s640/Familiehemmelighet2.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Patterned papers: MME, Cosmo Cricket. Alpha: Basic Grey. The rest: unknown</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<br />
Translated the journaling says: "<em>It must have been much harder back when suicide was a shame and no one ever talked about it. I still believe going out in public, telling that K killed himself, was the best. People who didn't know he had had tough days, could understand, and we, who was left back, got all the support we needed."</em><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I found the inspiration to this layout from <a href="http://csicolorstoriesinspiration.ning.com/forum/topics/case-file-no-41-case-closes-on-october-21-2012">CSI Case #41:</a>
<br />

<br />
<br />
Colors: All colors used - the grey is in my background paper, even if it migh look a bit browner, due to light conditions.<br />
<br />
Evidence; Texture (Cheese cloth), gold element (two flowers), ruffles<br />
<br />
Testimony: Journaling about something NOT a secret - this might be stretching the criteria a bit too far, but I'm still happy with my page and story.
Thank you for stopping by - I'm working on paying you a visit, too :-)Hilde Aaslund aka Scoobiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06937498198251713682noreply@blogger.com5
