CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #76

When I saw this week's challenge a CAS-ual Fridays, I got some ideas:

I pulled out stamps, inks and some good old fashioned chalk and was ready to play.
Just to discover I had Not. A. Single. Sheet of kraft left. Not a single sheet!!! Crises!!!


I found a piece of scrap kraft, though, but none of my ideas could be realized. Bummer.
So I put on my thinking cap again (I'm not a quitter, you know) and got a few more ideas. I choce to spend all my remaining craft on one single card, and here it is:

More simple Christmas cards

Do  you ever see something on the world wide web that inspire you so much that you want to sit down and create immidiately?

Usually, while browsing challenge sites etc, my brain is put in work modus, and ideas grow for a day or two, but with this sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch, ideas came popping up at once.

I  have saved this sketch to use it on  later occations, but what first came to my mind was making a super simple Christmas card.



Patterned paper: Kaiser Kraft. Card stock: Bazill.

 This may be not very traditional Christmas Card colors, but I liked it.

Then, yesterday, Dynamic Duos came up with this cool color combo:

Working with monochromatics (same colours in different hues -light/dark) usually set me off, but I thought I would give it a try. I used a vanilla base and bow (neutrals are allowed according to the rules at Dynamic Duos), and here is what I came up with:

No Family Secret (CSI Case #41)

As many of you already know, my brother chose to take his own life in June. The family has been open about the cause of his death all the way, hence the title on this layout.

Translated the journaling says: "It must have been much harder back when suicide was a shame and no one ever talked about it. I still believe going out in public, telling that K killed himself, was the best. People who didn't know he had had tough days, could understand, and we, who was left back, got all the support we needed."




I found the inspiration to this layout from CSI Case #41:

Colors: All colors used - the grey is in my background paper, even if it migh look a bit browner, due to light conditions.

Evidence; Texture (Cheese cloth), gold element (two flowers), ruffles

Testimony: Journaling about something NOT a secret - this might be stretching the criteria a bit too far, but I'm still happy with my page and story.     Thank you for stopping by  - I'm working on paying you a visit, too :-)

Christmas Card Galore!

Yepp, I know - I'm early with my Christmas cards this year :-)
But I was bored last weekend, and wanted to create, so I thought - why not?
I'm selling some of my cards at work, so I need to start early to have them ready in the middle of november.

When it comes to cards, my style is even more mixed then while scrapping. I enjoy both the hard thinking of getting CAS design to work, and to use layers and more embellies on vintage cards. And then there are those card who has no particular style - they are just ---- cards :-)

Do you make your own Christmas cards?

Model plane freak

DS9 is an RC model plane freak. He spends a small fortune on buying them, and due to a high level of self confidence, he believe he can fly them all. But he can't - and he always blame the plane he crashes when his tours end up as disasters - they have either too little power, keeps flicking even after adjusting, they have aerodynamic probles etc etc. Not once have I ever heard him admit he don't have the skills to fly difficult planes...


Two weeks ago he bough a Vision. He had been warned, both by his dad and other great flyers, that this was a difficult plane to fly. But DS9 was sure he could fly it - but he couldn't. The plane hardly lifted from ground, before it ended in the ditch....

3D foam dots give dimension to the details

I got the idea for this layout when I saw this sketch over at Pagemaps:

I flipped the sketch and replaced the butterflies with planes and clouds, but except for that I satyed pretty close to the original sketch?

Back in June I won some stamps together with Sherri Funk, made by Close To My Heart (CTMH), sponsored by Elizabeth at Broken Treasures. She also sent me a CTMH Idea Book, with lots of lovely stamps.

Sherri and I did a twin blog post with the stamps we had won, and Sherri was a Guest blogger at Elizabeth's blog at the same time. Elizabeth liked what she saw, and invited me to blog post for her this month.


In the said idea book, I found some stamps which shouted my name, a stamp set with faux stitching: they are so versatile, and just so me.

In spetember I used the stamps while solving CSI File #37:

Stamps are used to create the border, the circles and the stitched stripes under the washi tape stripes.
