Kort - cards

Før jeg ble scrapper lagde jeg kort. Mye kort.

Before I became a scrapper I was a card maker. I made lots of cards! But the more layouts I made, the fewer cards. But I still make some!

At MyScrapbooknook we have everything you need to make cards: sketches, color challenges and off course the ideas and the materials. I invite you to take a look in the forum's card section to get some inspiration and ideas! Our designers know how to make cards, I promise you!

Here are some cards I have made the last weeks:

Fussy hand cutting

Do you like it?

I'm a big fan and have been for a long time, but I believe it's a while since I have done it. But both the January and the February MyScrapbookNook kits had papers the shouted for me: Cut me - cut me!

So I cut.

First these snowflakes on Fancy Pants papers (January kit):

Then these Webster's Pages papers (February Kit):

I have more Webster's on the my desk, so guess what I'll be doing this weekend?

Zzzzz etc

DS11 must have been tired, falling asleep in the dogs' basket *lol*
I wonder why he layed down there in the first place...

Talking about dogs. I believe Scoobie has hung around with the kitten too much. It's isn't normal for a six year old dog to jump into an open box to play Peak A Boo, is it?

Both layouts are made with materials from MyScrapbookNook's January Kit

I Haz a Winter!

Actally I has a lot of things, but that's for sure - we have had real winter this season. December was dead cold, in fact one of the coldes in history, with an average temepratur of -10C (14F). Brrr.

DS8 got new down hill skis for Christmas - so he haz, too

And DS11 haz a winter scarf - Norwegian style :)

I got my January kit from MyScrapbookNook on Friday, and it was just perfect for those winter themed photos. But the kit was perfect for other photos, too - I'll show you in my next post, coming later this week. See you then!

Party time!

The winter is hard for the little birds around here so we feed them the whole season with seeds, nuts, grains and fat. And when we put out sheafs of grain, it's really party time for the yellowhammers!

This photo was taken just before Christmas when we put up a new sheaf of grains and I found that the MME Fine and Dandy, True Blue Collection, was a perfect match for this photo. I started working with the MME sketch at Blog Challenge #19, but chosed to work with it at a smaller scale on the 12*12 background paper, to get it all together like I wanted it to. There is no rule against that, is there *lol*?

The whole layout:

Top 10 2010

Picking the Top10 layouts for 2010 was just as hard as I expected - I love (almost) all of my layouts, there is something in each of them. But I managed to pick ten finally, and here they are, sorted in chronological order. And I'll tell you why they mean something special to me (all images are clickable to see them larger).

This is a cardstock-and paint-only layout I made just because. The colors and the theme in this photo of DS7 gave me no other option than focusing on winter and the color white.

When we returned from our easter break, all the snow was gone in our garden, and the kids found out it was the perfect time to build a tree hut. At this time of 2010 I experimented with two pagers, and I love the flow on this one.

So how do you scrap photos from a stunt show? I had these photos laying on my desk for a long time, until I suddenly got an idea. Ok, it's may be not the perfect layout, but it was the first time I worked with small pieces of patterned papers.

I love the mix of blocking and softer lines on this layout!

I strongly believe this design emphasizes the photo. If I should pick my Layout Of the Year, I think this might be the one. I think this was the first time I did my journaling directly on to the bakground paper, too.

This papers are from a kit and I seriously disliked them: not my colors, not my style. I was very tempted to just give them away. But then I shot this photo of DS7 and voila! those papers were perfect. Lesson learned: Never give away anything :-)

In 2009 I won a prize at Kaiserkraft's which included the whole Offshore collection. Over the year I had spent almost all of the papers, there were just scraps left, but I still had plenty of the embellies left. They were too good to just toss out, so I challenged myself to spend it all on one layout - no "less is more". I'm very happy how it turned out!

I have plenty of photos from the golf course and lots of them are taken on long distance (you don't want to disturb a golf player when he plays, right?) and those photos are hard to scrap. I really loved all the green on this photo, so I grabbed some old matching stickers I had, and worked from there. Lesson learned? It's ok to start with the embellies, and then chose papers.

I just love how this one turned out - the mix of fancy ladies on the chipboard stickers and the photos of us mums when we went tree climbing - it makes me smile

And then I got this urge to make something pretty. I had two packages of bling/pearl swirls laying around but just five flowers, so I even had to make the fluffy part on the red large one myself. I was shocked to find out I could do pretty layouts...

Seeing all these layouts together, made me realize I have found my scrapping style. I don't know what it's called, and I am sure I will continue to experiment through 2011, so I am quite excited to see in which the style develops through the upcoming year.

Thank you for taking your time to look at my work!

Slipp meg inn!!! Let me in!!!

Squeeek...

New year's day has at least been milder than the previous days! Happy new year, btw!

Ponky, the cat, hates the cold. If I let her out the front door, she runs around the house and waits in front of the kitchen window, so we can let her in. Lately she has developed a great tecnique so we can hear her, too - she rubs her paws on the window. And we hear her loud and clear - you know the sound of dry cat paw skin on cold glass: Squeeek...

The sketches from Skissedilla always make me want to scrap, sketch #92 too :-)

Important Info About Your Kits!
Starting in Jan 2011 (with the Feb kit), there will be a slight increase in kit pricing. Kits will now be $29.50. We have not had a price increase since we revamped our kit club several years ago. To keep the kits packed with special goodies and a great retail value we will be raising the price a dollar fifty.

Over the past year, operating costs have increased dramatically with recent changes in the economy. In order to keep your kits as loaded with goodies as possible so they are of the most use to you, we are making this small change.

As usual, our kits will have a minimum of a $32 retail value. As many of our long-time members know, it is not infrequent that we have kits valued upwards of $35. We do our best to keep them as packed with the latest and greatest at the best value.

We hope our customers will understand and we appreciate your loyal business tremendously! You guys are what make this kit club great, and we thank you! Just a reminder we love to look at all the creations from our kit club members. We have a special gallery for kits. If you haven't posted yet one of your layouts please do!
