Top Ten Cards in 2012

Today is the last day of 2012 - where did this year go?
This post is also the last on this blog, as of tomorrow you will find me on my new one: Hilde - The Paper Addict.

I have always been a card maker, but in periods creating layouts has been higher on my priority list. But in 2012 I found back to the love of making cards, and I hope this will continue over the next year.

During 2012 I have tried out the Clean And Simple style, but on occations I get this urge to do more traditional cards. I like both, which you will see among my personal favs. I give them to you in Chronological order with a few designer's note below each image.

I really enjoy fussy handcutting. DT work for MyScrapbookNook, but also
a card made special for my scrap buddy Petra.

CSI Coordinates Cards

As I promised in my last post, I'll show some cards made with CSI Coordinates.

CSI Coordinates are printables which comes with every CSI challenge. There are both background papers, word art and (journaling) spots/tags etc. So convenient if you don't have what you need among your own stash!

Background paper, tag, frames: CSI. Ribbon/twin: Scrapbook Fantasies.
Cardstock: Bazill. Buttons: Unknown

I don't always use the Coordinates, as I do have planty of stash on my desk, but some times I do. Usually I don't use all of it, and it's a shame to just toss the remaining pp and embellies. So I got this idea - why not use them for cards? I bet somebody has done it before me, but I haven't actually seen it, so nobody can blaim me on beeing a copy cat *lol*

Patterned paper/frame/owl: CSI.  Ribbons: Scrapbook Fantasies.
Brads: Harmonie. Cardstock: Bazill

I printed one of the background papers from CSI Coordinates #46 on grey cardstock, grabbed the spots that I had printed and were left from designing my layout for the challenge, and came up with these cards.

Patterned papers, ticket & frame with deer: CSI.  Ribbon: Scrapbook Fantasies.
Twine: The twinery Cardstock: Bazill. Buttons: Unknown

I have some remaning patterned papers from CSI Coordinates #47 on my desk, and the matching spots are just lovely, so I think I will do it this week too.

Do you ever use printables for cards?

Big Paper Bow Card

I just wanted to see if I could make a big paper bow. I have a crush on bows these days, but I don't always have the ribbons I need. But I do have papers!

So I made this bow using a patterned paper from Little Yellow Bicycle (Saturdays collection) and used scraps from the same collection for the background. The trick to make it look right, was to prefold some of the wrinkles, and to snip of some ends (I learned this from looking at DS10 when he makes his 3D paper model planes *lol).

Green Cardstock: Bazill. Alpha: SEI

"God jul" means Merry Christmas in Norwegian, so this is a card for the upcoming season. But I know I want to do more bow cards later - I have plenty of scraps (and new sheets) to use.

What would be your favourite pattern and colors on a bow card?

CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #76

When I saw this week's challenge a CAS-ual Fridays, I got some ideas:

I pulled out stamps, inks and some good old fashioned chalk and was ready to play.
Just to discover I had Not. A. Single. Sheet of kraft left. Not a single sheet!!! Crises!!!

I found a piece of scrap kraft, though, but none of my ideas could be realized. Bummer.
So I put on my thinking cap again (I'm not a quitter, you know) and got a few more ideas. I choce to spend all my remaining craft on one single card, and here it is:

White CS: Bazill. Kraft: ClubScrap. Snowflake dies: Lifestyle Crafts
Snowball pins: Marens Landhandleri. Twine: Hobbykunst. Alpha: BG

Guess who's going shopping kraft later this week!!!

Thank you for stopping by - your visit and comments mean a lot to me!

Christmas Card Galore!

Yepp, I know - I'm early with my Christmas cards this year :-)
But I was bored last weekend, and wanted to create, so I thought - why not?
I'm selling some of my cards at work, so I need to start early to have them ready in the middle of november.

When it comes to cards, my style is even more mixed then while scrapping. I enjoy both the hard thinking of getting CAS design to work, and to use layers and more embellies on vintage cards. And then there are those card who has no particular style - they are just ---- cards :-)

Today's cards are traditional card - traditional colors and themes.

Do you make your own Christmas cards?

fredag 19. oktober 2012

I'm guest blogging today :-)

Back in June I won some stamps together with Sherri Funk, made by Close To My Heart (CTMH), sponsored by Elizabeth at Broken Treasures. She also sent me a CTMH Idea Book, with lots of lovely stamps.

Sherri and I did a twin blog post with the stamps we had won, and Sherri was a Guest blogger at Elizabeth's blog at the same time. Elizabeth liked what she saw, and invited me to blog post for her this month.

In the said idea book, I found some stamps which shouted my name, a stamp set with faux stitching: they are so versatile, and just so me.

Stamp Set C1459 Stitched Together (not my card - example from CTMH)

In the guest blog post at Elizabeth's, you will find further details on how I used the stamp set to make these creations:

An altered canvas:

Stamps used with embossing and on shrink film

Button Card

Buttons are made by stamping on shrink film

In spetember I used the stamps while solving CSI File #37:

Stamps are used to create the border, the circles and the stitched stripes under the washi tape stripes.

Please head over to Elizabeth at Broken Treasures check out the tips from me, and to see Elizabeth's lovely creations!

Simple Christmas cards!

I was bored the other day, so I decided to start making Christmas cards. I have plenty of old stuff to use, but made it even easier for myself by buying a couple of new, small papers stacks - they are so handy.

So I started on Friday night by making cards in classy Christmas cards in tradional colors. But I wanted to see if I could get some ideas for new design and color combos, and I found a lot on the web to help me out.

I'm going to show the classic cards here next week - today I'll give you the other ones.BTW, for those of you who don't speak Norwegian: God Jul means Merry Christmas.

I found this fun color combo on the Dynamic Duos challenge blog:

And here is my take on it. I admit it, my card has a more turqouis color, but what the heck - I'm still happy with it and the challenge made me think out of the box.

CAS-ual Friday has this fun challenge this week:

I had some old glitter hearts, and I have lots of eyelets I hoarded years ago, so I pulled out my paper crimper, white cardstock and came up with this card.

Cardstock: Bazill. The rest: unknown

Artful Delight's October card sketch looks like this:

What a fabolous sketch! perfect for Christmas cards and all other cards!
Patterend papers: Simple Stories. The rest: unknown

Have you started on your Christmas cards yet?

-------------------------------------

Please come back later this week, as I have a lot of places to show where you can get inspiration for both cards, layouts and altered items:
  • Oct. 15th: A new card sketch is up at Cardabilities
  • Oct. 17th: Once Upon A Sketch releases DT Team B's creations on the 15th - my example
  • Oct. 19th: I have a guest blog post revealed somewhere in cyber space! It involves stamping, getting messy, example on how to use stamps, cards, layouts and a cnvas. Come back to see where and what.
  • Oct 21th: Classy Christmas cards.
And if I have time to scrap this week, I'll put up a layout in between the stated posts.
See you around!
