Nuts About December!

As I said in my last post, I really enjoy December - a few of my favourite things are mentioned on this layout:

Patterned Papers & ornament: Harmonie. Chipboard: Imaginarium Designs. Pins: Maya Road.
Alpha: AC/Amy Tangerine, Basic Grey. cardstock: Bazill. Snoflake Dies: QuickKutz

Do you wonder why I have a photo of walnuts on this page? Here's the explanation:
In Norway we have a tradition of eating nuts as snacks during Christmas.

Some  years ago I planted a walnut tree in our garden, hoping it one day will carry nuts. Walnut trees are not very common here so I have never been sure if this could be a success. Last year we had two nuts (!), this year several kilos :-) I'm so happy to see it worked out!

The inspiration source for this layout is the December Challenge at Once Upon A Sketch:

Not Your Bag! - OUAS November Challenge Reveal

Have you ever been to an air port, waiting for your luggage, and suddenly you realize you are all alone at the luggage pick up? There is one suit case left, going round and round on the luggage belt, but it's not yours. It is the same brand and color as yours, but is still not yours.

This happened to me this summer, in Corfu Greece. Luckily it is a small airport, and the airport staff was very understanding, so I left husband and kids with the strange suitcase at the belt, and ran out to see if I could find anyone with a suitcase belonging to me. And luckily I did, after just a minute or two, lined up in the taxi line.

At first the girl with my suitcase claimed the suitcased she held was hers, but when I asked if her name was what the tag said, she realized she had done a huge mistake. She probably understood how big her mistake was, when I told her I had spent enough time on the airport because of her, and that I had no intention on spending a minute more helping her out getting hers. Oh my, sometimes I can be so rude, but honestly - at least she could had apologized, but all she was interested in was why I hadn't brought her suitcase out. Hello, I'm not stupid - what if she had drugs in it, and I had been stopped at the customs? No, there was a reason why I didn't bring her bag.

Anyway - when we came home I saw this bright pink tag in a shop, and I bought it immidiately.

Patterned papers: Pink Paisley. Badges: ScrapButtons. Alpha: AC.
Wood Veeners: Studio Calicio. Large tag, pucinella, handbag Brads & chipboard: unknown

This layout is my example for team B's reveal for the November sketch at Once Upon A Sketch. This month's theme is "Anything Goes" and here is the lovely sketch which goes with the theme:

Finally, tell me: have you ever lost your luggage?

Easy like a Sunday Morning

For Septemberthe challenge blogs OUAS and CSI and has teamed up, and this is how this week's challenge look like:

This week I have a layout up at the challenge blogs for inspiration, featuring my darling cat Ponky:

She really is an easy cat: cuddly, fond of people, kind - but may be too fond of little birds and mice.

Woodgrain patterned paper & kraft paper: Harmonie. Blue Patterned paper: Webster's Pages.
Off white/grey patetrned pater: Studio Calico. Chipboard: Imaginarium Designs.
Flair: AFlairForButtons. Bling: memories. Corrugated shapes: Jillibean Soup-
Twine: the Twinery. Bow/flower: Maya Road. Brad: MME

How I solved the case:

Colors & sketch: OK - all used

Evidence: Flowers, branches, birds, woodgrain, newspaper print (on the brad)
Testimony: Documented a pet and used the lyrics from the song as the title of the layout

OUAS August Challenge, Team B Reveal

Good morning!

First of all - thank you to all of you who have visited my blog lately. It means so much to me that you take your time to see me - and reading all the sweet comments always make my days!

Today is Team B Reveal Day at Once Upon A Sketch (OUAS). This month's theme is

Season (Winter, spring, summer, autumn)

and here is the challenge and sketch which goes with it:

We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "Season" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.
Ideas for journalling: current season in your part of the world, favourite season, seasonal traditions on your part of the word, a childhood memory, a summer romance, what summer/autumn/winter/spring brings for you, baby it's cold outside, summer loving, spring is in the air, autumn breeze, summer holidays, seasonal changes, etc etc. Anything goes ..

Here is my take on the challenge. Even though I love all our seasons, summer is my fav: long days, fewer clothes, kids (and adults) spending more time outdoors etc etc. This photo is taken in late June when we went crab fishing with my Swedish scrap friend Pysselpetra and her family.

Sponsor materials used: Imaginarium Designs chipboard: clouds, branch, butterflies

This is the first time I have used modelling paste on a layout, and I really loved how it turned out. I used  negatives from the chipboard as mask for the clouds directly painted on the backround paper.

Papers/overlay(Chipboard Alpha: Fancy Pants Beach Bum

Branch and butterflies are inked, the butterflies also given a touch of glimmer mist. The chipboard clouds were given a coat of modelling paste before slingtly inked with grey ink.

Do you want to give this challenge a try? Please head over to the OUAS blog for the complete challenge, to meet our GD, see this month's prizes and our sponsors, and to explore the DTs super inspirational examples.

See you there!

OUAS July Challenge And A Layout

Hi folks!

I can't believe we're writing July 1th today. I have no idea where the last three months have gone, and there isn't much that reminds me of summer in my part of Norway - it's still chilly. I have one week left to work before I take a six week break - I'm just soooo looking forward to it. We'll hang a lot around home, but head for Greece in August - I needed to make sure we'll at least have some sun this summer.

July 1th means the July challenge is up at Once Upon A Sketch. This month's theme is

Friend

We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "Friend" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch below. Please make sure that we see some sort of journalling on your layouts and please tell us where your journalling is . Hidden journalling is perfectly fine.

Ideas for journalling: one of your current friends, a childhood friend, an unexpected friendship, what having friends mean for you, a friend that you miss or have lost, family member who is your closest friend, a scrappy/online friend, a special person that has touched your life, someone who has helped you out lately, a friend that you couldn't do without, your children's friends / classmates etc., your pet and the friendship you have with it..

and here is the sketch provided.

My take on the sketch is going up on the 15th, so you have to wait a few weeks to find out what I made (but I promise, I had lots of fun doing this challenge). But you are welcome, off course, to visit the OUAS blog to see some of my fellow DTers jaw dropping work, to read about our sponsors, and learn how to play along with us :-)

------------------------------------

Meanwhile I want to show you another layout made with MyScrapbooknook June Kit.
In the middle of May, DS9 and I took a trip to a glass blowers cabin, where the kid got a chance to make his own glass. In fact, he thought it was so fun that he returned to the hut later th same day to blow a second one. If you want a close up shot off the glass he made, you find it here.

Patterned papers: Simple Stories. Corrugated shapes: Jillibean Soup

I had seen a glass blower at work, so it was very interesting to see how they did it.
Have you ever visited one?
